My dad read detective stories to me before I knew how to read. Over the years, a character started to come to life, and I decided to try to write my own story. It took several decades for Spencer Manning to see other than the sheaf of papers in my drawer. But eight books later I still look forward to visiting with my characters.
Rick now spends time playing jazz trumpet, guitar and piano and as a docent at the Grosse Point Lighthouse. As much spare time as possible is spent reading.
Rick works part-time at Fermilab, the nation's most energetic particle accelerator laboratory. He also volunteers at Microtrace, one of the world's foremost forensic chemistry labs.
